Youth Leadership Wake Forest
A year-long program for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who have demonstrated leadership abilities and have interest in learning about our community. The Wake Forest Chamber Foundation accepts applications each school year.

Both programs require an application, but only the year-long program requires community references and interviews conducted by a selection committee. Please note that class sizes are limited. The tuition cost for this program is $500, and scholarships are available. For more information, visit www.wakeforestchamberfoundation.org to apply online.
Students can apply to the "Summer Youth Leadership Academy" or the "Year-long" program!
Lindsey is a graduate of HHS & of the Youth Leadership Wake Forest program. See what she has to say about her experience below!
"My name is Lindsey Dorn, and I graduated from the Youth Leadership Wake Forest Program in 2017. I first heard about Youth Leadership Wake Forest through my career management teacher and the current Career Development Coordinator at Heritage High School, Ms. Beaster. Currently, I am a rising sophomore at NC State University majoring in Civil Engineering. As soon as I started college, I built networks to get plugged in to what I wanted to do. I intern at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education and was the treasurer for Girls Engineering Change at NCSU.
In the future, I plan to work for a Civil Engineering company, coach softball, and stay active in the community through volunteering. Youth Leadership Wake Forest has been a tremendous help in getting me to where I am today. Networking was the most valuable skill I gained through interactions with guest speakers because it helped me gain experiences in high school to explore potential career paths like being selected as 1 of 72 participants worldwide to job shadow with the Cisco Department of Defense for 3 weeks. Learning about professional communication and teamwork are other valuable skills that helped me become the president for Husky Ambassadors in high school and the president for Womens’ Transportation Seminar at NCSU. Above all, the program pushed me out of my comfort zone, so I became more confident and passionate to chase after my dreams while not losing focus of my immediate community.
Youth Leadership Wake Forest is truly an amazing program that I learned so much from, and it was so cool to reflect on it and see how much it truly did impact my career by helping me gain valuable leadership skills. It really changed me as a person and helped me learn so much more about myself, and that was years ago. I'm sure it's even more amazing now!"
